the Knapp girls

I've decided to start a new tradition:

Fun days with Aunt Brookie:
--taking my nieces out for the day
--have way too much fun
--and give mommy a little break :)

I spent the morning with little Gabriella (she's getting so big!)
Then a few days later took Aulani & Gia to the park and lunch.

I know I'm biased...but seriously, could they get any cuter?!

I love these baby girls so much...

Me: "Aulani, can you do a real smile?  With your eyes open?"
Aulani: "No, Brookie.  This is how I do it.  See...!"
hahahaha

Sara + birthday

Instead of having the traditional birthday party (friends come bearing gifts, eat food, open presents, eat cake, and leave) Sara decided to do something a little different...

She invited a few of her closest friends that have really made an impact on her life.
She gave a speech.
She gave them gifts.
She blessed them.

It was such a beautiful idea - blessing others when it is your day to be "blessed."

A lovely evening was spent eating food, laughing, talking, and devouring cheesecake.

Giving her speech...

This girl LOVES whip cream...

Thanks so much, Sara, for letting me celebrate your life and birthday with you!

Emerald Lake + Snowshoeing

What's a perfect way to unwind after a stressful week?

Go snowshoeing in the mountains, of course!

Nothing like voyaging up the mountain in hopes of a good time and...

Going the wrong way,
Getting lost,
Having your boot + snowshoe come off in four feet of snow,
Almost getting run off the cliff by a snowboarder,
Being lost as it starts to blizzard,
Walking on the lake only to find it isn't so frozen,
and the sound of crunching snow underfoot.

Random adventures in the mountains

= the perfect dose of sanity for the week.

 Emerald Lake:

 "Help me!  I'm totally stuck!"
"Haha, wait, let me take a picture first!"

Houston

I traveled to Houston, Texas this past week!

My parents and I voyaged to the South to get my dad some cancer treatment at a clinic down there.

Most of the time was spent at the doctor's office or in the hospital (which aren't the greatest places to whip out a camera). Nonetheless, here is a summary of it in picture form:

My apple had a heart in it!

Found gluten free cookie mix!  Two points for Texas!!

Emergency Room findings...

Some of the houses down there are stunning
